About Me

So, most stuff will end up coming out as things progress, but a little background about me:

Technically, I graduated Seton Hall University in 2001 with a BA in Communications. While I played sports my whole life, I was never much into fitness. After college, I didn’t have rugby anymore, I didn’t like my home club. So I started putting on pounds. I was already overweight when I finished college, I have been diagnosed with asthma since I was 14, and I’m highly allergic to many respiratory allergens.

By May of 2011, I was 250 lbs., I hadn’t seen a doctor in 10 years or more. Well, what I thought was a little cold, ended up being severe bronchitis, on top of the smoking, the caustic chemicals at work, and a long work day, I ended up having an asthma attack. I hadn’t had an asthma attack (that I had recognized as such) in years. Turns out later, I would find out I was having minor ones all along, manifesting themselves in coughing, not wheezing like people normally think of asthma attacks. By the time I got home on the evening of 26 May, 2011 I could not speak a sentence without becoming short of breath. By the time I sought medical help, I couldn’t speak a word. 2+ days later in the hospital, I was lucky to be alive.

This episode started a long process of healing myself. I haven’t followed a diet, I haven’t used a training program, I haven’t even gone to a gym (although I should). I’m going to share all this with you over time. I’m also writing a book about it. I hope sharing can help other people, even though I recognize everyone is different.
